The Swiss 4×4 Wheeled Roland APC

The Swiss 4×4 Wheeled Roland APC was developed by the well respected Swiss manufacturer MOWAG (now part of GDLS Europe) in the 1960’s as a private venture for the export market. Its simplistic design meant it came with a low price tag and so was more attractive to less wealthy nations and well exported to Africa and South America. Production started in 1964 and ended in 1980. It is no longer marketed.

Hull is all-welded steel, driver sits front left, crew/troop compartment to his rear (commander and MG gunner) and accommodates 3 – 4 troops. They exit via a rear or the 2 side doors. The engine in is the rear.
