Vickers Armstrong bought Carden-Loyd out during the 1920’s and inherited the company’s existing designs. Vickers modified one of the designs to include a larger turret and a more powerful engine. This modified tank was known as the Mark II Light Tank and was adopted by the British Army for their patrol work in countries of the former British Empire during the 1930’s. They also had some limited combat experience in North Africa during the earlier part of Second World War.
