The Japanese Type 1 Chi-He Medium Tank

The Japanese Type 1 Chi-He Medium Tank

Despite being classed as a medium tank, it was used more as an Infantry Tank due to it being supplied mostly with High Explosive ammunition, so struggled in the anti-tank role.

The vehicle was in essence an up gunned earlier Chi-Ha, sporting a high velocity 47mm main gun and was first seen in 1941. Its armour had been doubled and was slightly larger in both height and length. The turret also offered a larger space for the crew to operate.
