The US T28 Heavy Tank

The US T28 Heavy Tank

The US T28 Heavy Tank (aka the T95) was the largest monster the US Army built during World War 2. It’s not truly a tank as it lacks a turret. Its size was a result of the large circular mantlet required to fix the high velocity 105mm main gun. It had a staggering 4 tracks and running gears, but due to its size no other vehicle could recover or tow it. It was built to take on the heavy German Tank Destroyers and dense Japanese fortifications. Four prototypes were built between 1945 – 46 and never entered serial production.
