The Russian 2S25 Spurt-SD Tank Destroyer aka the “Spurt-SD” aka the “Spurt Octopus” is based on the BMP-3 Infantry Fighting Vehicle and uses a 2 man turret mounting a 2A75 125mm smoothbore main gun, which is fitted with an autoloader.

Unlike the BMP-3, the  2S25 Spurt-SD Tank Destroyer was developed for Russian Airborne Forces. The vehicle also has good amphibious capabilities and reportedly able to fire its main gun whilst swimming. Development started in the 1990’s and was first seen in 1999.

Development and manufacturing has been completed by the Volgograd Tractor Plant Joint Stock Company. The vehicle is in service with the Russian Armed Forces and there are reports that other countries have been interested in buying the vehicle, but no confirmed orders have been announced.
