Tank Nut’s Group Rules

Tank Nut’s Group Rules – As Tank Nut’s is constantly expanding with thousands of new members in to an international group, we have identified potential problems that can occur when you get so many people together in one place. To reduce these we have added some group rules listed out below so the group can continue getting along and enjoying uploaded content:

Vehicles You Can Post

If a vehicle is not designed to fight, or closely support other vehicles that fight, it shouldn’t be here. If it’s a tank, armoured fighting vehicles or designed to support/fight tanks, it’s in line with tank nuts. Static Artillery guns aren’t tanks and neither are the gun tractors that drag them.

We welcome all members to post pictures and videos of vehicles from all nationalities.

Photo albums – If you make a album about a T-34/85 then please name that album T-34/85 and not the date when the album was made (which is preset) so your efforts can be appreciated by other members.

Opsec – Please do not post pictures or videos that could endanger the lifes of serving servicemen, such as latest communications equipment, internal images of armour or dimensions.

Commenting & Conduct In The Group

1. If you post a vehicle picture, feel free to say where you took it, when, what you were doing with/too it, for example “I shot a T-55 and knocked it out in my Leopard 2” do not say things like “I took out a T-55 because they are shit” or another example “here is a video of a knocked out Abram‘s“ do not say “Abram’s are shit and death to all Americans“.

2. National pride is great. But don’t automatically assume and voice in the group that every AFV not built in your country is shit. Hold your tongue and avoid arguments and giving TND a headache!

3. Political views. Talking about your experiences in combat or sharing footage as a AFV enthusiast is great for the group and a good read. Showing a picture of a damaged Challenger 2 in Iraq is fine, but saying that “America and the UK shouldn’t have invaded (use the term loosely)” is a political view.

Leave it at the door and don’t bring it to the group. The same applies to “my army did what yours couldn’t and is better at it than yours”.

4. A level of banter is expectable, but don’t make it personal, nor take it to far, nor nationalistic.

5. Just because a vehicle is untested in combat or comes from a certain country does not give people the right to tarnish it with the same brush as other vehicles from that same country, which have been a fail.

The group is here to have fun and share, it is not a free advertising poster board!

Failure to do so will result in you being removed from the group and your post deleted.

Inappropriate & Rule Breaking Posts

Though we like to see members enjoying others posts, its not your responsibility to tell the original poster they are breaking the rules, simply report the post and the admins will get a notification of your report and will check the post, Target Stop!

Self Promoting Posts

We welcome admin’s from other groups or Facebook Walls, however TND and the other admin’s built the site and this group from the ground up with out spamming other peoples groups or walls.

If you wish to mention your wall, or looking to advertise a book etc you have written please ask and check with admin first before posting for consideration.

Group Admin

Dave TND Wright aka TankNutDave – Prior to creating the group, TND wrote TankNutDave.com an online encyclopaedia of over 1000 military vehicles. He has assisted media such as the BBC, research for BAE (UK), worked with World Of Tanks, credited in books, an assistant director for one of the UK’s biggest military shows and is a military vehicle instructor.

Thord Wedman – A legend in the group, he is a former Swedish Army military vehicle operator of some years and served on a number of UN Peace Keeping missions. He commands a lot of respect from the group and works also restoring military vehicles as a volunteer at Arsenalen military vehicle museum. Impressed with his contributions to the group, his knowledge, experience and non-bias attitude he earn’t our respect and is a valued admin.

Anthony Sewards – He joined the Canadian Military in 1987 and served the whole regular time service with Canada’s Only heavy tank Regiment, the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians). He completed 7 operational tours from missions in Cyprus, UN peace keeping forces during the Bosnia War and his final combat tours were in Afghanistan. He trained on wheeled, light & heavy tracked vehicles.

Anthony retired from the army as a sergeant and has since worked on a popular DVD series about Canadian (or Canuk as he calls them) armored vehicles, books and a TV series about Canuk vehicles. He contributes to our Canadian vehicle pages on the website and like all our other admins, offers a great deal of valued assistance on our other projects.

Eamon Malcolm – A serving Australian tank crewman, who has served in Iraq and the RAC vehicle museum. Introduced to TND on a visit to the UK by another admin, he has spent time crawling over Challenger 2 tanks with TND who appreciates his spelling corrections as he is a trained teacher!

Gary Joynson – A former NCO in the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment of 11yrs, he served on the Challenger 2 Tank in Iraq and later in the Warthog Group in Afghanistan. He has been a key contributor to the site for some years and valued technical advisor. We are currently working on his army banter in an attempt not to offend non-UK military personnel!

Erik Gustafson – Our most recent new admin. Erik is a former Swedish Military helicopter tech and a true Tank Nut. He works also restoring military vehicles as a volunteer at Arsenalen military vehicle museum.

David Williams – Last but not least, Dave is the best friend of TND and who came up with the name TankNutDave! Despite not being a Tank Nut, its great to hear him now naming tanks!

RULES FOR THE GROUP – BY ASKING TO JOIN THIS GROUP YOU AGREE TO STICK TO THEM OR GET KICKED FROM THE GROUP
