The Russian NONA-SVK 2S23 120mm K is a modified BTR-80 (wheeled APC) equipped with a new turret housing a 120mm mortar, as used on the tracked 2S9 Nona.
The modifications include a different door used as the crew exit between the second & third road wheels, removal of the infantry firing ports and vision devices, as well as the roof hatches.
The vehicle has retained its amphibious capability and is powered in the water by the BTR series water jet at the rear of the vehicle.
The mortar can be elevated from -4 to +80 degrees, whilst the turret traverses. it’s a breach type weapon capable of firing a number of munitions, reaching 8850m and 12000m+ when using rocket assistance rounds.
The vehicle has a four man crew. It can store 30 x 120mm rounds and 500 rounds of 7.62mm for the coaxial MG. It also has a bank of three smoke grenade discharges mounted either side of the turret.
It has a 260hp as used on the BTR-80 and has pretty much the same mobility capabilities, but is slower with a top road speed of 80km/h. Crew have night vision equipment and an NBC system. The vehicle is in service with Russia and China.
