The Academy Warrior model M.C.V. was the first 35th scale model I made and was a present from my mother. It is an Academy kit and was great fun to build.

I learnt a great deal from small mistakes I made in its construction. Firstly the mesh netting on the turret storage, I cut the mesh out of its mainsheet and kept cutting it down to size whilst over the template in the instructions, rather than cut the template out and holding it to the mesh.

I made a complete hash of the tracks on this model. I found that the ends did not pull tight together and I could not do the procedure shown in all instructions of pulling the ends together and joining them by melting them together with a heated screwdriver. I eventually glued the track to the wheels so it was tight.

I airbrushed this model in October 2008. I airbrushed the hull & turret with Tamiya XF-58 olive green, then taped out the black area’s and airbrushed them with XF-1 flat black.

I used the usual Revell Enamel paints for the lights, sights and MG, matt black 8, red 31, orange 30 and 752 blue. I also used Humbrol 130 satin white.

I used Tamiya XF-75 IJN grey and Revell matt black 8 on the tracks. I used Humbrol enamel 11 MET for the main gun, ropes and pick axe’s. The decals are left over ones from my AS-90 model.
