Overview
The AMX 50B I got fairly late on. I thought it would be cool to have a vehicle with an autoloader and a big gun, however I was soon disappointed and have to admit that I do not have the skills needed to effectively operate this vehicle compared to my other conventional tanks.
The biggest frustration with the vehicle has to be the ammo rack. Despite mounting the wet ammo rack, it always gets knocked out once and then a second time after I’ve used a consumable repair kit, so you can end up spending a long time waiting for the autoloader (which holds x4 rounds) to reload, which feels an age when you’re in a vehicle with such low hit points and chocolate armour!
What always confuses me is the vehicle is ranked higher than other tier X heavies in the match making. Though in principle you have the ability to inflict more damage with the gun, but you are never going to empty all 4 rounds in to another tier X and destroyer it, 1 always seems to bounce! And as I said before, it has chocolate armour and low hit points.
Its only saving grace is it has great mobility for a heavy tank, but I would never recommend to anyone that its worth sitting down and grinding through the tech tree for this vehicle when there are so many more worthwhile tanks to grind for. I would simply keep it as a side line project just playing a match each day to obtain the x2 and leave it there, whilst grinding through others!
