Overview
The IS-7 is the first tier X heavy tank I got. It was prior to the release where the IS-4 became a tier X as well, so in the tech tree I have both as the IS-4 was a tier IX that you had to grind to get the IS-7.
In terms of victories and average experience points earen’t per battle, the IS-7 is my most successful tier X heavy tank, which makes it great for earning x2 exp each day to contribute to free exp for getting through the tech tree of other tanks quicker.
Compared to the IS-4, the IS-7 has less hit points and only has slightly thicker frontal hull armour, but thinner turret armour. The IS-4 gun has 8mm better penetration, but the IS-7 has better damage when using standard AP rounds.
The only vehicles that I have struggled to penetrate are IS-4 and the Maus, which generally due to its high hit points I find myself having to use premium rounds to insure that I survive.
In terms of mobility it is overall better than IS-4, Maus, E-100 and T110E5.
In terms of overall balance, the IS-7 has it and its never disappointed me when playing it. If it struggles penetrating frontal armour, its superior mobility allows to step on the gas and get in close to attack the enemy’s weaker side armour.
