Overview
The Maus has to be my most favourite tier X heavy tank. I originally got the E-100 first and with its stock gun (which is the only main gun on the Maus) and I had to grind through to research the 150mm main gun that turned out to have poor penetration, but was more effective when firing High Explosive. The E-100 also had a higher silhouette and allowed the enemy time to aim at the large frontal weak spot of the turret, which meant the vehicle was better suited for standing off from the battle and getting shots in when supporting other tanks.
The Maus however, has a smaller weak spot at the bottom of the hull glacis plate, which takes time to aim for and having a faster reload time, higher hit points and overall thicker armour, the Maus can get stuck in to the fight unlike the E-100. What I also love is the fact it has the most effective hull side armour and find it rather entertaining watching tier IX mediums trying to flank me and their rounds just bouncing off the side armour.
Its only real downfall is its mobility. The first time I played with it, I nudged just over a hill slope to shoot a vehicle and it didn’t stop rolling! Despite the fact I hit the space bar and then the F key in to full reverse, which it finally did when I got to the bottom of the hill and on to flat ground!
Despite the lower tier tanks in the Maus tech tree less fun to use than that of those leading to the E-100, overall the Maus is certainly a more fun vehicle to play with overall compared to the E-100.
