Responding to evolving threats in Afghanistan, the U.K. Ministry of Defense selected Navistar to supply tactical wheeled vehicles. The International MXT based units were procured through the U.K. Tactical Support Vehicle (TSV) program and are called the Husky.

A contract for 262 vehicles was signed in April 2009, and a September 2010 follow-on contract brought the total to 351 vehicles. It has been designed for a range of Afghanistan missions, including transporting food, water and ammunition, and acting as a command vehicle at headquarters. Some vehicles will be fitted out as protected ambulances.

The British Army Husky Tactical Support Vehicle (Medium) will be produced at Navistar’s West Point, MS assembly plant, which has produced around 8,000 MaxxPro MRAP vehicles. British firm Dytecna in Malvern will then add “government-furnished” systems and gear specific to the UK military.
