The Hotspur Hussar Armoured Personnel Carrier is a steel armoured body proofed against 7.62mm MG fire mounted on an extended Land Rover 110 Defender chassis fitted with an additional rear axel, this reduced repair and spare part costs due too the popularity of the 110 Defender. The driver is able to select 4×4 or 6×6 drive.
Developed and built by Hotspur Armoured Products based in Wales (UK), from 1987 to 1997 4 countries bought the vehicle, including Egypt (operate 110), Sri Lanka and the Bahraini Police.
Commander and driver sit up front and the rear section carries 12 troops. They have vision blocks and firing ports in the sides of the vehicle for firing personnel weapons. The vehicle can also be fitted with a small turret for mounting a 7.62mm Machine Gun.
The fuel tanks are armoured as is the underneath of the of the vehicle is protected from mine and grenade splinters. The front windows are made from armoured glass. Crew and troops exit the vehicle through side and rear doors.
