The German VK1602 Leopard Reconnaissance Tank

The German VK1602 Leopard Reconnaissance Tank was developed by German firms MAN and Daimler-Benz in 1942, the Leopard was a complicated and pricey reconnaissance vehicle to manufacturer, which eventually led to its demise in late 1942.

The vehicle was agile, well protected and thanks to its 50mm main gun, would have been able to get itself out of tricky situations. It was planned that 260 were to be built with first deliveries being completed in April 1943. When the project was cancelled, non of the prototypes of the vehicle had been finished, though the turret was later used on the wheeled SdKfz 222 Puma reconnaissance vehicle.
