Despite its name “LAV” this vehicle is not a member of the GDLS Canada’s LAV family. The US LAV-300 4×4 Wheeled APC was developed by US Firm Cadillac Cage as a private venture for is existing 4×4 wheeled vehicle operators.

First prototypes were completed in 1979 and entered production in 1982 to supply export clients, Kuwait, Panama and the Philippines, the later being the only country to still use them.

The driver sits front left with the engine to his right. This is Cummins 6 CTA 8.3 turbo charged 260hp diesel engine, giving a top road speed of 105km/h and what speed of  3km/h. The two man turret can be equipped with a 90mm or 25mm main gun and the rear compartment carries 9 troops. It can be adapted for specialist roles like mortar carrier.
