The Slovakian Aligator Light 4×4 Reconnaissance Vehicle

The Slovakian Aligator Light 4×4 Reconnaissance Vehicle in service with the Slovakian Ground Forces who operate 40+ in other variants as well. Manufactured by the Slovakian firm Kerametal Company Ltd, the first prototypes were completed in 1996 and the first delivery to the army was between 2001 – 2002. The vehicle has been offered to the export market, but no orders have been received.

Engine is in the front, then driver (left), commander (right), the gunner (third crewman) and behind them is the troop compartment in the rear, which can accommodate x3 troops (bring the total to x6).

Protection

Standard steel construction giving protection up to 7.62mm rounds. Crew have bullet-proof windows and the steel of the underbelly is twice as thick to increase protection against mines. Optional protection includes add on ceramic armoured plates and NBC protection system.

The vehicle uses a 189hp DEUTZ BF6M 1013 turbocharged diesel engine and 6-speed automatic transmission. Top Road Speed is 120 km/h’s.
