Scania AB, AKA Scania, is a Swedish company who manufacturer commercial heavy trucks and transporters (as well as buses) who also are well known for their engine manufacturing. They have an established history of success dating over 100 years and as such, their commercial semi-trailer vehicles can be used for military applications, such as a tank transporter.

The Swedish Scania T144 tank transporter is one these vehicles and has been adapted to transport AFV’s weighting up to 60 ton’s. This makes the vehicle perfect for transporting Sweden’s Stridsvagn 122, AKA Leopard 2S Main Battle Tank, as well as other tanks of the Leopard 2 family, which Poland also uses the vehicle for (they operate the Leopard 2A4).

The vehicle entered service in 1998 in Sweden and since then, other than Poland, it has been exported to the Belgium and French Armies.

Its powered by a Scania DSC14 turbocharged diesel engine, which develops a juicy 530hp. The cab can accommodate the driver and the four tank crew members.
